Palmetto Greens Golf Opening Delay

The rain over the past week gave some much-needed relief to the Low Country area; but not so much to the golfers anticipating the reopening of Palmetto Greens Golf and Country Club. The former Colonial Charters Golf and Country Club has been closed for approximately two years while a major redesign of the course took place. Thursday, March 13, was the scheduled day course management was planning on reopening, but because of the weather, the golf cart paths still remain unpaved. A course representative reported that it would be another couple of weeks before public play can resume. Redesigned by Rick Robbins, Palmetto Greens offers players a 6,486-yard, par-71 playing field, currently featuring winter Ryegrass fairways. Around May 18, the course will close, again, to plant TifSport Bermuda greens and bunkers, and Norman Bermudagrass on the tees and fairways.
