The Myrtle Beach Golf Dilemma: Overseeding

Golfers around the continent have been waiting for summer to finally be over and fall to begin: Golf season arrives. With the onslaught of welcomed players in the area comes a debated hurdle for the golf courses: Changing the grass. Bermudagrass, the most common greens grass in the area, goes dormant in the winter months. To offset the problem, many courses overseed with ryegrass or poa trivialis to fill the gap, a solution that beautifies the surface, but oftentimes requires the greens to be heavily sanded and a hold-back from cutting for up to 10 days to allow proper rooting. When booking your Myrtle Beach golf package this time of the year, it's probably wise to ask your golf specialist or the course about their overseeding time-frame. With so many golf courses to choose in the area, you're highly likely to find plenty of great alternatives that have already finished, haven't begun, or do not intend to overseed their course---so you may avoid the issue altogether.
