The Blue Crab Festival

Celebrating its 27th year, the annual Blue Crab Festival was establish over a decade ago primarily to maintain it’s bucolic atmosphere. Located on historic waterfront the festival is held on Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th. Festivities this year include fresh seafood, live entertainment, art and crafts, children’s petting zoo and games and amusements. So come out and enjoy one of the Myrtle Beach area’s most popular event and get the season started!

Palmetto Greens Golf Opening Delay

The rain over the past week gave some much-needed relief to the Low Country area; but not so much to the golfers anticipating the reopening of Palmetto Greens Golf and Country Club. The former Colonial Charters Golf and Country Club has been closed for approximately two years while a major redesign of the course took place. Thursday, March 13, was the scheduled day course management was planning on reopening, but because of the weather, the golf cart paths still remain unpaved. A course representative reported that it would be another couple of weeks before public play can resume. Redesigned by Rick Robbins, Palmetto Greens offers players a 6,486-yard, par-71 playing field, currently featuring winter Ryegrass fairways. Around May 18, the course will close, again, to plant TifSport Bermuda greens and bunkers, and Norman Bermudagrass on the tees and fairways.
